Another great week of fishing landed nice recreational Tuna catches of some Fat fish!
Clients experienced multiple hook-ups and limiting out on Tuna catches for some great fish for Sushi or steaks on the barby!
Large Haddock are abundant on the ground fish trips! Average Haddock are around 8-9 pounds with a few monsters in the mix. Cod fish are still making a show with last weeks large Cod at 19 pounds.

A Few pictures of the overnight trip offshore were Cod fishing was as good as it gets with Cod to thirty plus pounds and many twenty five pounders as well! This trip left at 10pm with a nice ride to the grounds the boat arrived at the grounds for a daybreak bite. With the fish stacked up fifteen feet high it was lock and load fishing! Every time the jig hit bottom it was “FISH ON”. The group fished as long as they could limiting out on Large Cod plus boxes of Haddock and Pollock to add to the catch!
August has been a prime time for large Sharks! With the water temp in the seventies these hungry creatures are everywere! The commotion of fish being caught attracks these creatures to the boat and they seem to wait for the larger fish that struggle more to take a bite!
The other day folks had what could have been a record Haddock and all that came up was a huge head. Held next to a 9 pound haddock that was caught this fish was estimated to be over fifteen pounds):
The Tuna bite was turned on last week with double hook-ups and many single bites! The groups caught their own baits early during the day picking out the lucky ones..They were all Lucky one day as every bait hooked a Tuna! The limits were caught and the rest tagged and released!
The Haddock fishing has been producing some large Haddock at key spots. Smaller Haddock have been abundant everywere but some spots hold the beauties!
Thanks to the many folks who enjoyed thier stay at Lisa’s Lookout and thier trips with Kayman Charters! Hope to see you again soon!
The Lisa and Jake have been on some productive bottom last week. A mix of jigs and bait have brought in some good catches of Cod and Haddock. Some nice cool breezes were on the ocean and were much relief from the heat onshore.Tuna fish are showing up on the bank as all the fish to the east will be making their way to the inshore waters Shared trip on Aug9 still has a couple of openings for Cod and Haddock. Lisas Lookout our new lodge next to the boats has been a great hit with everyone who stayed rebooking for fishing or family beach getaway. Email or call for more info
Capt Rob has skippered the ground fish trips the last few weeks and reports some excellent catches of Cod Haddock and Pollock! Cod to twenty pounds have been hooked and some nice sized Haddock spicing up the catch!
Capt Kevin has been harpooning Tuna with Wicked Tuna star Paul Hebert. a few nice fish have been landed but weather conditions have been tough.
Tuna rod and reel trips start soon as the bite is picking up, Contact Capt Kevin if you would like to go Tuna fishing with him and wicked Tuna’s Paul this season.
Fishing remains steady on the Cod and Haddock as well as the Tuna! Craig Young landed a 350 pound Blue fin Tuna earlier this week on a live mackerel he jigged up inside the harbor in the early morning.
Young Jake was on the boat mid week and he also was an excellent angler and fought a 200 pound Tuna to gaff. Some of these fish have been wild dumping 45 pounds of drag on the Shimano 130′s over and over again. The speed of the line dumping out at this incredible rate is quite a site to see!
The Todd Carrier group landed the fish of their life time last week as an 800 pound Giant Tuna inhaled their offering! The Shimano 130 light up like nobody’s business mid day in a fleet of boats, the reel was almost spooled when we got off the anchor and started chasing the fish between anchor lines and boats! The crew did an excellent job letting the fish run when told to and keeping the line tight to dance the boat out of harms way!
Forty minutes into the fight the Giant surfaced and thrashed around leaving a huge spray of white water and an incredible sight! We then got on top of the fish to put him into the death spiral and came up for an easy harpoon shot after 70 minutes!
Congrats to the whole group who all took turns and brought this fish to tail rope in a nice smooth way!
Cod and Haddock was dampened by Dogfish at a few stops but some nice sized Haddock and Cod were brought in despite the abundance of Dog fish, Cod to 20 pounds and nice 8-9 pound Haddocks made for lots of tasty fillets for anglers.
