The last week of Cod season ended with some banner days with boats limiting out on large Cod to a day were there was virtually no bite and all the fish that came in were snagged.
The Frankie-Pollozia group from Chiccopee had there first annual trip in honor of there Dad Frank who was a long time Cod fisherman. Frankie made several trips aboard both the Kayman Too and the Lisa and Jake over the years. Frank spent every spare hour tying and constructing different jigs and teaser setups to catch the big one. His son Mike said that is what kept him going in his last years. Frankie was sure to try every rig he made before the end of the day! Sometimes that meant missing the bite to ensure the new rig was tried and tested! Frank was featured in a Kayman Charter video catching 30 plus pound Cod fish with his specialty rigs.
Frank was said to be looking down on the boys on the day of his first annual trip when the boys were done filling the boat with large Cod he sent a hungry 600lb Tuna their way looking to eat. A 130 class reel was deployed and the fight was on! The group took turns bringing the fish with in range of a harpoon shot that landed them the largest fish of there life!
Stay with us Frankie and may you rest in peace!
November trips have started with lock and load Pollock fishing! Saturdays trips on the Kayman Too and the Lisa&Jake saw that it only took a couple of drifts to test the strength of Anglers! Pollock to 25 lbs were peeling drag and snapping lines faster than you could ever imagine unless you have already experienced this fishing on the Kayman hot spots! Only doubles were hooked that means every drop you had to reel up 25-45 lbs of fish! Needless to say over 1000 lbs of fish were on the deck before the buzzer rang!
The boats will continue to run until Dec and as long as the fishing stays good!

Earlier that week Two different Charter boat operators took there crews up for their bi annual Cod trips to stock their freezers. Both of these groups operate out of the same Pt Pleasant Marina . Well they also both hit the jack pot with limits of Large Cod and then BIG Tuna.
Here is a video Capt. Ken of JamaciaPrincess.com put together.
Fall Cod fishing continues to be the best of the year so far! Consistent 15-30 lb fish have been hammering jigs on the rockpile. There have been very few smaller fish in the mix but this has been a great spot to take advantage of while the fishing remains open! Jigs of all types and shapes have been putting rods to the gunwale and screaming drag. Yes they are feeding!
A few Tuna have been under the boat interested in the the jigs. We have put out the good gear in hopes to catch one but they keep hitting the wrong gear getting spooled instantly!
Dave Lazzaro of NJ did land a 700 lb Tuna on the right rod last week. The fish hit a Mackerel floating in the chum. Congrads to him!
Pollock and Haddock trips will continue into December this year but the boats will come out for maintenance once there are no more bookings, don’t wait until last minute to book your trip or you might be disappointed.
Cod fishing is heating up with larger fish moving in to shoaler areas. The other day we were on a nice pocket of all 10-25 pound white bellied fish! This filled the coolers quickly as all limits were reached by the end of the day.
Earlier in the week Capt. Rob reported that Tillies bank was on fire as a single drift produced 4 boxes of Cod and Haddock {1box is 125lbs}.
He was on the middle ground of Tillies drifting jigs and teasers as the clients started bending rods one after another! Cod from Market size to 20 pounds were filling the boat as he drifted of the edge!
A stop on an offshore Haddock wreck also produced a great number of Large Haddock. This fishing was all done on bait with the boat anchored exactly on the spot hungry Haddock were inhaling baits as soon as they were offered.
Fall fishing can be great but make sure you plan on crappy weather the average wind is 20 kts
Sorry about the lack of pictures my camera was stolen with all the great pictures in it.
I am currently waiting for some customers to send me in some photos. I will post them as soon as I get them.
Last week was a decent week of Cod and Haddock fishing. Codfish were landed in the mid 20 lb range as well as an amount of short fish that were released for next year. It has been a big mix of fish as some really large Cusk to over 20 lbs have been landed as well as some of the Fall Slammer Pollock that have already shown up. Haddock have all been nice size stuff that have been making some great fillets for the dinner plate. Most of the fishing has been done jigging on Tillies Bank to the east side of Stellwagon were fish have been spread out for most of the summer.
Don’t miss out on some great fishing before old man winter is knocking on your door step. Call or visit www.kaymancharters.com today
Fall Cod and Haddock is getting better each trip! Nice fish to 44 pounds were taken last week with a great number of large Markets to 15 lbs! This fall fishing is filling totes on the quick side as well as a few slammer Pollock to test the wary arms of already sore anglers!
A few Tuna were also taken on the Kayman Too. Capt Rob fished some of his herring filled edges and with all rods sporting his specially designed jigs and methods they managed to land two nice recreational Tuna for the grill!
October is filling quick so don’t hesitate on your chance to fill the freezer for the cold weather

Some more banner Cod trips this week as some nice pockets of 15-30 lb fish move in to the shoaler waters! Haddock are also showing in good numbers. The jig guys are getting a generous helping of them as the bait stops are filling a few totes! Fishing has been mostly drifting and jigging as the fish are spread out across certain areas of the harder bottoms.A few bait stops when the haddock start to come over the rail are with great results.
This is the time of year to fill your freezer for those winter month that are unfortunately right around the corner. Sept 24 is the only split trip left to fill don’t wait till last minute as the boats are filling quickly for the fall fishing.Go to kaymancharters.com to check for openings and book your trip today
Here is a video on a 300 pound Blue fin caught on a live Mackerel on the Lisa&Jake
The ocean seemed like a desert that day with very little life. Suddenly this Tuna flew all the way out of the water and inhaled the bait.
North east storms beginning of the week kept the boats tied to the dock for a few days. The return to the sea on the week end provided a stir up with Tuna reappearing in good numbers! A handful of recreational size fish showed up chasing half-beaks to there fearful death!
Unfortunately the Lisa & Jake hooked a larger one on the lighter gear that after a long battle straightened out a Tuna Hook. Exhausted anglers were disappointed with the return of the broken hook.
Cod and Haddock fishing was as it was before the blow with the exception of some fish moving into the closer grounds. A 24 pound Pollock was taken as well as some nice Cod to 20 lbs on one of the inside spots!
Cod fishing has been the best this Summer and looks great going forward!
