Cod Fishing Report

Sept 25 2009
The Tuna bite slowed up a bit this week so we focused on the spectacular Ground fishing. Nice sized Cod to 35lbs were jigged up this week on spots from Tillies bank to Stellwagon. Limits were not a problem each day as any fish that had to be measured was discarded to make room for the larger ones. Still only a handful of Haddock being brought up on the jigs. The bait has not been the choice by of anglers after the great jig action. A few wolf fish and Cusk have also been in the mix.
The visiting Blue Sharks are still making there appearance. Many of them are striking the Cod as they are being lifted from the water. This is definitely a surprise even for the mates when there is no warning that a large toothy critter is looking for your dinner.
