Cod and Tuna Report

Sept 4 2009

The boats have been Cod and Haddock fishing east of Stellwagon all last week. Bait and jigs have been yielding Cod to 30 lbs with a good number of fish in the 10 lb range!
Large Haddock have also been in the mix. a 8 lb Haddock has been common and will fill fish totes quickly, Dog fish have been not a problem as only a handful of these protected specie have been carefully released each day. It is a pleasure to be able to bait for Haddock again, hopefully it will last!
Tuna have been gain busters on some tides and non existent on others. There are tens of thousands of Tuna chasing bait from right outside Gloucester to 30 miles plus offshore. being in the right place at the right time will ensure a battle of a life time as these hearty fish will put any angler to the test!
If you are into Sharks than you want to go fishing now! There are Threshers, Makos,Whites and the more abundant Blues roaming the Cape Cod bay and Gulf waters. All the trips last week ran into Sharks at least once during the day.
