April 13

The Haddock Bonanza continues with lock and load fishing in the deeper water! Some days the wait for the big bite is painful but has been turning into doubles as soon as you drop!  The boxes fill quickly when these hungry silver beauties gather to feed. This has been a better fishery than the Cod as there are no limits, no pulling back up on the drift. It has been all anchoring keeping the bow into the wind making for comfortable fishing even in the nastiest of days!

Cod opens up this week so we will keep our focus on the brown spotted ones and as always looking to find the larger ones!

April !0

The boats have done an excellent job on the Haddock this week! With the Cod still closed all the concentration has been on the Haddock migration patterns.
With a few past years fishing logs and a graph Capt. Kevin and Capt. Rob have been moving with the tide cycle and date patterns to stay into the main school of these Haddock.
Each day the boats have topped 150 Haddock with the top day 220 Haddock. Now that is some great eating! Some of these Haddock topped 12 pounds and there are a ton of 7-9 lbers
The Cod fishing will start this week there are only 2 split days open until the end of May so don’t hesitate if you have been looking to get out on one of the boats.Visit kaymancharters.com for latest reports and information.

Cod and Haddock Fishing

Monday, March 29th, 2010

Spetacular Haddock fishing continues! This weekend the boats were on the Haddock bite again! This has become a lock and load fishing. With the anglers going through bushels of clams to “keep them coming” the fresh smell has made for lock and load fishing to a steady pick and them here they come again!

Anglers were hooking double header haddocks and Wolf fish at the same time.  With the Cod opening soon this is a great way to get out if you love Haddock. These prime fillets make for fine restaurant dining in your own home.

We have a few single spots this weekend call 508 577 0541 for info

Haddock Fishing Charters

Friday, March 26th, 2010

March 26 2010

The Lisa&Jake made trips this week after some extensive work. The trip went smooth as can be! Many thanks to the clients who kept their weights from slamming against the side of the new gel coat job as the Haddock were being hauled over the side!
Haddock fishing was red hot this week as the anglers hooked over 125 of these tasty silver beauties each day. One day topped out over 172 fish!  Now that is some great fishing! Most of the Haddock were hooked on bait rigs on the deeper slopes between Tillies and Jefferies ledge. This under water highway funnels nutrients of plankton that start the food chain and the Haddock settle on the hard pieces of bottom that collects the flow of this food.
Haddock trips will continue until April 15 when they will mix with Cod. There are openings until then but the boats are booked for a while after that.

Haddock & Cod Fishing

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

The Kayman Too rocked the Haddock this weekend! Clients took advantage of rare Kayman openings jumped aboard Friday and Sat mornings.
Capt Rob culled through the brown ones until he hit the jack pot!

Nice Silver Haddocks on a non stop bite that lasted until the 2pm whistle blew!
Every angler ended up with over 25 Haddock to take home!

Even though jigs were dropped into the mix the big eyed silver fish preferred to eat the clam offerings. Most of the fishing was done in 150-250 ft on the east side of Tillies Bank! this is a huge ridge that hold migrating fish as they stop to feed on the rich bottoms that have not seen dragger in ten years.

Both the Kayman too and the Lisa&Jake have enclosed wheelhouses and heaters to take you to the Haddock grounds before April 15!

Cod fishing Stellwagon Bank

Monday, March 1st, 2010

I am at the Philly  expo sportshow. Things are going great new
clients are filling the books for Spring Cod trips.
Anglers are disappointed in the delay for Cod trips this year but are
still sighning up for Spring Haddock The abundance of shrimp and eels of Gloucester are promising signs for a great Spring.

The only fish report I have comes from the Kayman Too that has been fishing the jig permit .I only got to take the boat once this week
between shows and was totally amazed of the consistance piles of
Codfish. Every trip has been a short one as the piles of Cod seem to
continue for ever .Every drop has at least two or more fish on it.
All these fish are feeding heavy and don’t appear to be
going anywere soon.
Shared charter dates have been posted thru may log on
www.kaymancharters.com or give us a call befor these spots sell out.
I will be at the Suffren NY show this weekend stop by for some Kayman goodies and grab the show specials.

Cod fishing

Sunday, February 14th, 2010

Feb 14 2010

The prime Gloucester grounds remain open to commercial fishing. A very busy Stellwagon Bank has been producing limits of Cod with most boats returning in a couple of hours. The fish are so thick even the rod and reel boats have been limiting out with lock and load conditions! This is definitely a sign of a healthy fishery and ecosystem as the fish are well feed on eels and herring!
Six Passenger Cod trips Start April 15th this year. Haddock is open all year and those trips will Start in March. With the shortened Spring Cod season the books are filling quick don’t be left out Book your trip before the Shows this week!
Capt. Kevin will be at the Big E this week make sure to stop by and get a few Kayman Goodies. We will have a news letter going out with specials and coupons. Sign up today at www.kaymancharters.com

Cod Fishing Report

Saturday, January 9th, 2010

January Fishing remains Steady as the outside areas fill with herring. Fish chasing bait in January is always a good sign. When the bait remains steady in cold water it provides proof for a healthy ecosystem

Some days are easy to find fish in the same spots but as winter storms move through the bait can shift to new spots. Some days it takes a little looking around for the next trip.
Not a lot of wind this week put anglers on some fair waters for January. Large Pollock were the fish that brought anglers to the gunwale as arms ached and backs were sore. These winter time favorites along with a mix of others make for some great hot chowda on those cold days.
See our spring calender for open dates and sign up for the news letter atwww.kaymancharters.com
