Stellwagon Bank Charter Fishing

Thursday, June 23rd, 2011

It seems every day we pick up to go home we are releasing ten to fifteen pound fish because the limits have been reached! Fishing has been outstanding with all nice quality Cod and Large Haddocks. June has turned out to be the best month again this year and the way it looks should be right through July! We have been on great schools of fish all month there are a few Dogs but very manageable the yeild of these nice white bellies fish is outstanding to say the least!

Gloucester Cod and Haddock fishing charters

Friday, June 17th, 2011

Cod fishing has remained strong as ever! Limits of nice white bellied fish are brought to gaff every trip this past week! Some days a mix of Haddock are also spicing up the boxes. The Haddock we have been getting are all Large fish that bring eye openers to anglers who state time again “that is the largest Haddock I have ever seen!” There seems to be plenty of fish going forward as there are herring and Mackerel holding tough on a lot of the bottom outside Gloucester. The fish are all roaming following the bait. All spots are producing good quality fish. Next Shared trip is July3 one spot left and Fri July 8 see kaymancharters.com for reservations

Gloucester Haddock and Cod Charters

Thursday, June 9th, 2011

The Cod fishing has just got better if that is at all possible! Large Haddock have made the migration into some of our hot spots making a nice mix of Large Haddock as well as some great white bellied Cod!  These fish are some of the best eating fish as we have moved of the eel fish onto deeper water that is still cold. All the fish are feeding on crabs and herring that give the fish a nice shine and solid firm meat! June use to be a slower month for bottom fishing but that has all changed the last few years with the come back of Cod and Haddock and mainly to the limiting of the deadly pair trawl boats that for years were allowed to wipe out all the herring. The Cod and Haddock all feed on Herring and there is more herring on these spots than I have seen in years! We have plenty of opening for charters and mixed parties

Gloucester Fishing Charters

Cod and Haddock remain strong! Larger fish are starting to move in as the water warms. Limits of Large Cod was granted to a few groups this week as fish from 11- 25 pounds bent rods one after another! Double 15 pounders wore out the groups some days as the crew picked up the slack to limit out before heading west to Gloucester. Jigging and the teaser of your choice gets the fish to bite pink always works but a few secret colors did the trick on some days! June 6 we are opening the second boat for a split trip due to high demand there are 4 more spots as of this report. go to www.kaymancharters.com to sign up!~

Stellwagon Bank Cod Fishing Report

Monday, May 9th, 2011

The Kayman boats have been on lock and load fishing the past few weeks! The boats made it out through all the weather to fill fish totes with limits of Cod fish to 25 lbs! Also in the mix were some very aggressive Pollock, “this is like November fishing ” quoted a few of the regular Kayman fisherman as rods doubled over and drag systems were put to their limits!

Even after the best Haddock fishing season we have ever seen, the Largest Haddock was caught on a jig in 120ft of water on the edge of Stellwagon Bank! This 14.6pound bull head was bigger and fatter than all of the other Haddock that were flopping over the deck in March!

All the fishing was done on jigs of various types and the best teasers were the small shrimp feathers that seamed to land all the large Cod! The butterfly jigs also seam to hold the bottom better and were nailing those fat lazy Cod.

June 6 and June 14 are the next open Shared trips , sign up at Kayman Charters.com

Haddock Fishing Charters Gloucester Ma

Wednesday, April 13th, 2011

OH MY GOD!!!  We have never seen Haddock like this before! The Haddock have to be 30ft thick and balled up in the tens of thousands! Most days were one stop shopping as we anchored right on these piles and then the slaughter began. Double header action was non stop for the duration of the trip! These fish were starving and even the smallest washed out piece of bait got inhaled!  While this action quickly filled all the fish boxes corrals were made to pile more into the made up hold. Needless to say the crew had their work cut out for them cutting for hours on end in less than favorable conditions, waves coming over the top and scattering the fish all over the deck was common, looks like we have more of that to look forward to in the upcoming days! Check out the open dates to book your charter!

Haddock Fishing

Friday, April 1st, 2011

Haddock fishing has been nothing but outstanding the last few days! Calm seas and light tides made these fish ball up and feed like crazy! We are hoping the weather cooperates for us this coming week to get out on these schools of fish before they disappear!

New England Haddock Fishing Report

Monday, March 28th, 2011

The boats have been fighting  bumpy weather and starting to get into some quality Haddock now that the tides have subsided. Some nice 8-10 lbers have been coming up with a few double headers for those patient enough to wait for the second one. Clams and shrimp has been in the mix of bait, it seems once they are under the boat they will bite on anything. The boats have been from Stellwagon to Jeffreys ledge and have had a handful of Haddock at most stops. One stop was lock and load doubles as a ball of feeding fish came under the boat and all the rods went down. Deeper water is holding most of the bait and that’s were we are finding the fish. Still openings for full charters as well as shared charters

Victor's nice Haddock

The boats did get out for a few days despite the rough weather. Haddock were caught by all as bait rigs tried to stay on the bottom with the fullest moon tides we have had in years! Anglers did a great job moving around the boat to avoid tangles as the tide screamed like a raging river. It took a great deal of constant rod tending to keep the baits on the bottom. The Haddock were not fast and furious like last year yet. We will be on the other side of the moon these coming up days and hopefully the weather will let us look around to find some bigger piles of Haddock.

It was great getting out and enjoying the day with some great people as the caught some great tasting fish! The Haddocks were all nice firm white meat that folks have called to say how delicious it was! This is real cold water fish as the surface water temp is still in the thirty’s. Here are a few photos of some of the anglers with their catch.
